Penn Badgley and Come Dine With Me have the most unlikely crossover ever as Joe Goldberg recites: ‘You won Jane’-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley and Come Dine With Me have had what we can only call the most unlikely crossover ever as he was introduced to one of the most iconic moments of British culture.

Yep, we’re talking about that ‘What a sad little life, Jane’ moment.

For those unfamiliar with the cultural reference, back in 2016, Come Dine With Me contestant Peter dished out that his competitor Jane had won the £1,000.

And he was not happy about it.

He seethed: ‘You won Jane. Enjoy the money, I hope it makes you very happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life Jane.’

Not stopping there, he continued: ‘You ruined my night completely so you could have the money, but I hope now you spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum.

‘Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.’

Seven years later, and the moment remains iconic.

And now, it has been given a Joe Goldberg makeover.

The You star was asked by BBC Radio 1 to deliver the monologue, to which he tried his best, despite being baffled.

No, Penn, shockingly it’s not (Picture: BBC Radio 1)

‘Is this scripted?!’ he asked, before commenting that ‘No one in America would say that’.

He then couldn’t hold back the giggles watching the real version, adding: ‘I so much prefer your reality television’.

The clip has obviously sparked a lot of laughter, with one person writing: ‘Oh my god I didn’t know how much I needed to hear an American recite La Biblia de Come Dine With Me but here I am’.

Another penned: ‘I never thought I would hear penn badgley recite it honestly but I’m so happy I did.’

You is available to watch on Netflix.
