I created a cute baby baby grow but was slammed by ‘Karen’ mums who said it was inappropriate – I don’t get why
A BABY clothing designer has been left baffled after coming under fire by touchy mums who found her baby grows inappropriate.
Victoria King owns Vicky’s Babywear and personalised items and regularly receives five-star reviews for the clothing she produces.

While many are plain knits that come in a range of different colours, she stitches in phrases in others to make people laugh.
One such design had ‘When do I… Get a spray tan, false eyelashes & lip filler like mummy’.
She created the design as a special order for one customer and shared it across her social media accounts, including Instagram and Facebook.
But what she thought would be a fun tongue-in-cheek baby grow ended up causing outrage with many mums branding the outfit “well grim”.
Victoria panicked over the negative responses by people, who she’s labelled ‘snowflake Karen’s’, and called some of her pals, who reassured her of how brilliant the baby grow is. And since then, she’s received loads of requests for similar designs, leaving her “over the moon”.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “At the minute people are just so touchy about everything, you can’t say anything anymore – people just get offended.”
At first, she explained that she didn’t take the comments personally, but she eventually found herself blocking people over the horrific messages they left.
“It’s quite controversial but I’ve taken a lot of orders on the back of people jumping on this post,” she said. “The good comments outweigh the bad, I’m over the moon with that and people putting orders in.”
Another one of her £7 designs has ‘Be honest, does my bum look big in this?” emblazoned on the front, while a third has ‘When I grow up I’d love a moustache just like nana. Can’t wait!’.
In response to the ‘spray tan’ design, one Facebook user wrote: “Way to bring your kid up to believe her appearance is the most important thing about her and she’ll never be good enough.”
And another shared: “That is well grim and I’d defo not order from somewhere that promotes this the thought of promoting babies growing up self-conscious doesn’t sit right with me.” [sic]
But many came in to defend her baby grows, with one person sharing: “Why are people so offended by this my baby had a bib her dad got her saying my mummy’s full of s**t like my nappy it’s just a joke guyssss”. [sic]
While another said: “I love it each too there own is what I say , it we were all the same what a boring world we would live in … the world is full of Karen’s x”. [sic]
