Succession’s Brian Cox has no intention of backing down from his criticism of co-star Jeremy Strong’s method acting, and has now released a skit taking another shot.

Working together on the hit series since it premiered in 2018, Brian stars as Roy family patriarch Logan, the head of Waystar RoyCo, a global media and entertainment conglomerate.

However, he’s constantly been battling with his adult children to maintain power, with the eldest son from his second marriage, Kendall (played by Jeremy), doing his best to take over the company.

But after Jeremy, 44, explained last year he was an advocate for method acting while working on the show, his on-screen dad, 76, said he was ‘worried’ about the approach.

However, Brian later said what he really thought, branding it ‘f***ing annoying’ to be around a fellow actor always in character,

When appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon ahead of the comedy-drama’s fourth season premiere this week, Brian spoke about the difference of opinion further.

While he initially appeared to apologise, a skit made it very clear on where he stood.

I’ve been a little harsh on it and I’m sorry about that,’ he told the talk show host.

He added: ‘In fact, I’ve been trying to set the record straight in a masterclass series of acting that I’ve been doing.’

While Jimmy hadn’t heard about these classes, Brian said he had a clip that could be played on the show to impart some of his advice.

‘I think this more eloquently explains my opinions on acting,’ he said.

The short class began with Brian speaking directly to the camera and introducing himself and his masterclass on the craft of acting.

But when the first tip was revealed, it became clear Brian was very much not sorry about anything he had said previously.

‘Just f***ing do it. Act,’ he yelled.

‘Say the f***ing lines and don’t bump into the f***ing furniture.’

And with that, Brian’s opinion on the matter was clear.

The audience was in hysterics and clapping, while Jimmy jokingly teared up and called it ‘the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen’.

‘Watching this I’m quite moved by it,’ Brian added.

But while Jeremy was the main person in the firing line, Brian also shaded Sarah Snook, who plays his daughter Shiv.

Speaking about the impending end of the series, Brian said that he ‘felt it in his bones’ the show would be wrapping up, but others didn’t clue on.

‘In fact Sarah didn’t know and then did the final reading and it was over. But she lives far away, and she’s Australian, and they don’t listen very well,’ he said.

He added: ‘I love endings and getting the f*** finished with it.’

Succession is available to stream on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs on NBC in the US.
