Musician Ellynora apologised in tears after being accused of ‘butchering’ the English national anthem before a match on Wednesday night.
England had faced off against Italy in Naples, resulting in a 2-1 Euro-qualifying win for the Lions.
But while fans had plenty to celebrate by the final whistle, things didn’t get off to a great start, as many complained God Save The King had been painful to listen to.
Italian-American musician Ellynora had performed the anthem looking rather flustered, appearing to fiddle with her earpiece as she belted out the anthem in a not-so-brilliant pitch.
England fans flocked to Twitter to complain about the performance, claiming the singer had butchered the national anthem.
Now Ellynora has tearfully apologised as she insists it wasn’t her fault and there was a technical problem during the performance.

Speaking to the Mail Online following the match, the 28-year-old ‘broke down in tears’ and apologised, saying she was ‘so angry… because I wanted it to be perfect.’
‘I want to say sorry to all the England fans who were at the stadium and watching on TV, I’m mortified for what happened and I want people to know that I wasn’t being disrespectful.’
Explaining she had been ‘honoured’ to be asked to sing the national anthem, she said there was ‘a sound issue’ during the performance with the star experiencing ‘a problem with my earpiece.’
‘I had the music in my ear and then it stopped and started again, and I was hearing it twice, so it meant I was out of sync, and it was hard for me to catch up.’

Her performance was absolutely slated across the board, with everyone from the public to pundits labeling it a ‘shambles.’
One person took to Twitter where they shared a photo of the singer, declaring she was ‘wanted for crimes against the national athem.’
A tearful Ellynora told the outlet the fans were ‘right to be angry’ and it was ‘so upsetting’ because she ‘wanted to do my best and make England proud.’
