IMPACT Wrestling suffers double injury blow with Mickie James and Josh Alexander ruled out hours before huge show-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

IMPACT Wrestling has had to pull Josh Alexander and WWE legend Mickie James from tonight’s big Sacrifice event.

The company has suffered a devastating double injury blow with both major stars ruled out less than a day before the pay-per-view, with Alexander being forced to relinquish his IMPACT Wrestling World Championship.

In a statement, IMPACT president Scott D’Amore said: ‘We wish Josh a full and speedy recovery, and everyone at IMPACT Wrestling, including our loyal fans, can’t wait to see him back in the ring.’

Alexander has suffered a triceps tears which will require surgery, meaning his record setting title run is officially over after he won the gold for a second time at Rebellion in April 2022.

He is currently in Orlando, Florida, where Brad M. Homan will be performing a triceps tendon repair later today.

He added on Twitter: ‘Safe to say this news is devastating. I’ve torn my tricep. I will have to relinquish my @IMPACTWRESTLING World title immediately.

‘I’m heading into surgery momentarily. I’m so thankful for my Impact family for the support. I’ll be back & I’ll be better than ever. 🙏 ✌️

Steve Maclin will replace Alexander to team with Rich Swann and Frankie Kazarian tonight at Sacrifice against the Time Machine trio of Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin and KUSHIDA.

Then, KUSHIDA will go on to face Steve Maclin at this year’s Rebellion to crown a new IMPACT Wrestling World Champion.

News of Alexander’s injury broke hours after fans found out current Knockouts World Champion Mickie James has also been ruled out.

IMPACT originally announced on social media: ‘Due to an injury, @MickieJames will be unable to compete at Sacrifice. We will give an update and address the Knockouts World Title situation tomorrow night at Sacrifice.’

Mickie shared the statement with a broken heart emoji and later added: ‘I came all the way to Windsor to defend the @IMPACTWRESTLING Knockouts World Championship against @JordynneGrace at #Sacrifice Tomorrow night.

‘Now I can’t do that & I don’t know what to say. I’m so sorry to let you all down. This. This was supposed to be a MOTY night.
