Daredevil actress Ayelet Zurer has spoken out after being replaced for the upcoming Disney+ reboot Daredevil: Born Again.
The 53-year-old actress played The Kingpin’s wife Vanessa Fisk in the Netflix series, but she is among the stars who won’t be reprising their roles in the upcoming revival.
The character will instead be portrayed by Better Call Saul’s Sandrine Holt alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.
Having played the part in the Netflix show, D’Onofrio returned in Disney+ series Hawkeye, and he’ll be back for Born Again.
Zurer has responded to the casting news, sharing a screenshot of an article praising her performance in the original show, which said ‘she made the best possible choices to bring Vanessa to life’.
She captioned the post on her Instagram Story: ‘Sad to not take part but will always be [Vincent D’Onofrio’s] biggest fan.’

Addressing her casting at the time, Sandrine wrote: ‘I’m so excited to work with the talented @vincentdonofrio #Charliecox and @margaritalevieva on #daredevil ⚡️let the adventure begin!’
Vincent replied: So happy to have you join us. Both of you. Looking forward to it Sandrine!’

Charlie Cox will be back as lawyer Matt Murdoch and his Daredevil alter ego following appearances in Spider-Man: No way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, while Jon Berthnal will also return as The Punisher.
Margarita Levieva is joining the cast in an as yet unconfirmed role, while fans have recently been rocked by reports that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson won’t be reprising their roles as Matt’s coworkers Karen and Foggy.

One fan put forward a theory that perhaps Daredevil: Born Again may be set during the Blip – the five-year period after Avengers: Infinity War when half of the world’s population had disappeared – and so perhaps they could end up returning for season two.
Meanwhile, another speculated that Foggy and Karen could show up as a welcome surprise at some point on the show.
In November last year, Deborah spoke out to reveal that she hadn’t yet been asked to be a part of the Daredevil reboot.

Speaking on Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast Inside Of You, she said: ‘I can say this: they have not called me yet. So, as of now, I am not a part of it. I would be thrilled to get to be a part of it. They know where I am.’
She continued: ‘Like I said, I love the character Karen Page. I love telling that story. I feel like I have more to say. But it is up to them what kind of story that they want to tell.’
Daredevil: Born Again is available to watch on Disney Plus.
