Jonathan Majors’ lawyer has claimed newly released texts were sent from the alleged victim of his recent assault charge.

The Marvel star’s attorney insists the woman her client is accused of assaulting told 33-year-old Majors over text message that the situation was ‘her fault’ and she ‘doesn’t want him prosecuted’.

Earlier this week, Majors was reportedly charged with counts of assault and harassment following an incident last weekend.

The Creed III actor was arrested in New York on March 25 following a domestic dispute where he was accused of assaulting a woman.

The following day, he was reportedly arraigned on several assault and harassment charges.

On Thursday, TMZ published text messages allegedly sent from the woman in question to Majors, which his lawyer Priya Chaudhry say show her ‘admitting that she was the one who used physical force against him’.

One sentence in the alleged text message exchange shared by the outlet read: ‘Will make sure nothing happens about this. I told them it was my fault for trying to grab your phone.’

The alleged victim also seemed to push for the DA to drop charges against Majors and Chaudhry said the messages have been handed to law enforcement.

An altercation between the Creed star and alleged victim is said to have unfolded after she tried to look at the actor’s phone after noticing a text from another woman.

Lawyers and representatives for Majors have vehemently denied the allegations and said he was even ‘provably the victim’ himself.

In the complaint from the Manhattan DA’s office, according to Variety and other outlets, the unidentified female accuser claims the defendant did ‘strike her about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear’.

She also alleges that he ‘put his hand on her neck, causing bruising and substantial pain’.

Majors, who recently starred in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania, was first taken into police custody after officers responded to a 911 call in the Chelsea area of Manhattan at 11:14am ET.

The actor’s criminal defence lawyer previously told Metro.co.uk in a statement: ‘Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.

‘We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently. This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.

‘All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.

‘The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Majors’ reps for further comment.
