The Avengers star Linda Thorson, who was a close friend of the late Paul O’Grady, has spoken about the Lily Savage star’s death.

The Blind Date presenter died ‘unexpectedly but peacefully’ on Tuesday night at the age of 67, his husband Andre Portasio said in a statement.

Tributes poured in for the For the Love of Dogs star from leading figures in the entertainment world, including Lorraine Kelly, as well as from the royal family.

Linda, 75, was the latest star to share her memory of O’Grady, who she met while he was a presenter on iconic show The Big Breakfast.

She appeared on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain during which she spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray about O’Grady, recalling some of their last moments together.

The Valentino actress told the presenters spoke about the shock of his death and revealed he died in his own bed with his husband Andre beside him.

She said: ‘I can’t believe it. Just to hang up the phone and hours later for someone to die who was so happy. Full of life.

‘But he died in his own bed. His husband was there, Andre, who he’s been with for so many years. The most divine man.

‘He’s only 41, Andre. He will be so bereft. He worshipped Paul. He gave a speech at Paul’s 60th birthday. And Cilla [Black] was there Barabara Windsor. They’re gone. They’ll all be partying in heaven you know. And the Queen.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
