Bill Skarsgård has revealed he is not set to float back down to Derry for the upcoming IT prequel series.

The actor, 32, appeared as iconic horror villain Pennywise in the 2017 remake of the Stephen King classic, as well as the 2019 sequel IT: Chapter Two.

Skarsgård followed Tim Curry’s performance as the horror clown after the veteran actor starred in the 1990 miniseries based on the 1986 novel.

Director Andy Muschietti is also behind the helm of upcoming prequel series Welcome To Derry set in the 1960s before the events of the films.

Despite playing the clown in both of Muschietti’s films, the star has revealed he is currently not in talks to star in the eagerly-anticipated TV series.

In a new interview on Jakes Takes, the star said at the moment, he is not involved with the project.

The Barbarian actor went on to give some advice to anyone that may take the role after him.

‘If someone else gets to [play Pennywise], my advice is to make it your own,’ he said.

‘Have fun with it. What I thought was so pleasurable about that character was how incredibly abstract he was. The book is really a gift that way.’

It centers on the town of Derry, Maine, where a group of friends called the Losers’ Club battle Pennywise the killer clown first as kids, and then 27 years later as adults.

The HBO Max series will see Muschietti direct several episodes, with Wonder Woman’s Jason Fuchs and Moonhaven’s Brad Caleb Kane acting as showrunners.

It is also set to include the origin story of Pennywise, as reported by Variety last year.

So far, it’s unclear whether any of the characters from the book, series, or existing films will feature.

Casting information and a release date are also yet to be confirmed.
