People only just realising there’s a hidden function on your zip that works a charm on jeans & it’s blowing their minds
FASHION fans are going wild after realising there’s a secret hidden feature on your zippers – were you aware of it?
A bottom of jeans – whether straight, skinny, low-rise or mum – is a staple in most wardrobes. But did you know the zip has an added function?

According to savvy style enthusiasts on TikTok, your denim trousers come with a inbuilt hack to prevent the zipper from getting undone – no more awkward situations of knickers peeking thorugh.
The fashion discovery was shared online by TikTok user Marilyn (@mmarlo__5862) and it has since blown minds all over the internet.
The mum, believed to be from the US, claimed that zippers have a lock system – and it’s easy to use.
For instance, Marilyn demonstrated to her 557k followers, if your zip slider is facing downwards, it will automatically activate the lock.
To prove this, the mum pulled each side of the waist in a different direction – and the zip wouldn’t move.
But the second the fashion lover pulled the little slider up, the jeans came undone in an instant.
Baffled by this, Marilyn admitted that she had never heard of this before, writing: ”I was today years old. Zippers have locks – what?!
”I seriously had no idea,” she added in the caption.
It wasn’t just Marilyn who was stunned – dozens of fellow TikTok users flocked to comments, with one writing: ”Are u serious [sic].”
”So that’s why my mum’s zippers are always open… she doesn’t put the zip down,” a second chuckled.

”Whaaat,” someone else was lost for words.
”My mum taught me that,” another claimed.
Whilst we’re on the topic of denim, did you know what the mini metal studs are for?
A rather important feature of jeans that were invented all the way back in 1873, they were added onto jeans to hold them together at places they would most likely come apart, such as the pockets.
Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss, the pioneers of the global jean company Levi Strauss & Co, even received a US patent for rivets, which was seen as an “improvement in fastening pocket-openings.”
“By adding metal rivets to work pants, which would be known as blue jeans, they created stronger pants for working men,” the official website revealed.
The reason behind the rivets emerged after someone took to Reddit to ask if anyone knew what they were for.
“These are on all jeans,” they wrote.
“Do they serve a purpose, practical or otherwise? If not, why are they there?”
And once the rivets’ purpose was revealed, someone commented on the post: “I was today years old.”
“Pretty sure their main purpose is scratching my phone,” someone else joked.
