While fans are waiting patiently for season two, Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman has shared an exciting update about the next instalment of the cherished story.

The first series of the Netflix hit follows Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor), two young LGBTQ+ schoolboys falling in love, conquering their shame, fear and bullies to bravely live as their authentic selves.

Screenwriter Alice recently revealed that asexuality will be explored via newcomer Isaac (Tobie Donovan).

‘Netflix will hate me for spilling, but yes, asexuality will be discussed on TV in a big way. I’m excited. I hope it’ll change the world,’ she told Attitude Magazine.

‘I hope when it happens in Heartstopper it doesn’t feel like a lesson. You know Isaac, you care about him, and now you’re going to learn something new about him.’

It comes after it was confirmed that filming for season 2 was completed in December, hopefully suggesting it’s not too long to wait until it’s back on our screen.

‘That’s a wrap on Heartstopper season 2!’, Alice began in their caption. ‘It’s been an incredibly intense few months on set with many new challenges for the cast and crew, but everyone rose to those challenges with such passion and skill and determination.’

She continued: ‘Huge thanks to every single member of the cast and crew – everyone has worked ridiculously hard and given it their all, and for that I am eternally grateful.’

Heartstopper is available to stream on Netflix.
