Dragons’ Den has left viewers emotional after watching all five investors come together to throw their support behind a business.
On this week’s episode, Joanna Proud approached the Dragons – Peter Jones, Steven Bartlett, Deborah Meaden, Sara Davies and Touker Suleyman – for a £20,000 investment.
Presenting her range of Mood Bears, she explained that she came up with the idea for the product back in 2019 while struggling with her mental health.
‘At 2am, I drew Happy Bear and decided to have it made,’ she explained.
‘When it came, my husband said, “My goodness, that’s the first time I’ve seen you smile in such a long time”. I thought, “Wow, that could help so many other people”.’
The range of bears come in eight different colours and each represent a different emotion; Happy Bear, Sad Bear, Silly Bear, Calm Bear, Nervous Bear, Angry Bear, Love Bear and Hope Bear.

They also come with a poem and encourage people to help recognise and then speak about the way they are feeling.
Since launching two years ago, Jo’s business has made £275,000 after selling nearly 12,000 bears.
She also recently released a Mood Bear book and explained how people ‘need a smile from time to time’, and explained that both adults and children were fans of her bears.

Seeking the investment for a 10% share in her business, Peter congratulated Joanna on her success to date, but then suggested all the Dragons come together and invest £4,000 each.
‘This could be something very special and I love the messaging here,’ he said.
‘The power of the people and the Dragons could send this message and have real consequential and powerful impact.’

All jumped at the chance to invest, an opportunity Joanna couldn’t pass up.
Struggling to hold back tears as she left the den, she clutched Happy Bear tightly and said: ‘Oh, Happy, we’ve done it. We’re going to make people smile, Happy.’
People watching along at home were clearly affected by the bears as well, with some saying the segment had left them in tears.
‘Wow. I’m in tears All 5 dragons. What a way to end the season,’ one person wrote.
Another added: ‘Dragons’ Den just reduced me to tears.’
One mother also shared that she got her son a Happy Bear two years ago and posted a photo of her son, who is autistic and has struggled with speech and language, smiling while cuddling his furry friend.

Last month Shay Sharma, 15, made history as he became the youngest entrepreneur to nab an investment from Peter Jones.
Pitching a football board game, which he had already sold 65,000 of, he managed to secure the investment, but for 20% equity of the company.
Dragons’ Den is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
