I’m an expert bra fitter – people claim red lingerie is ‘invisible’ under a white T-shirt, so I put it to the test
ACCORDING to one viral hack, wearing a red bra underneath a white T-shirt is the secret to a seamless look with no lines.
One lingerie professional put it to the test against two other popular bra colors and was surprised by the result.

Kimmay Caldwell (@hurraykimmay) has been an expert bra fitter since 2005, so she knows a thing or two about the magic of lingerie.
After seeing posts on TikTok that claimed a red bra was the “no-show” secret to pair with white tops, Caldwell had to test the theory.
In her own video, she asked, “Can you really wear a red bra under a white shirt without it showing through?!”
To test the efficacy of the hack, she compared it to two other common bra colors: white and skin-toned.
“First, let’s take a look at a white bra underneath the white T-shirt,” Caldwell said.
The problem with the white bra was immediately apparent.
“Clearly you can see this, y’all,” Caldwell said. She made a joke comparing her own skin tone to the stark white bra.
“Even on a pale person like me, the white bra clashes with the skin and completely shows through,” she said.
Caldwell went a few shades deeper for her next bra, which was a creamy beige color.
“Next, I put on a bra that matches my skin tone pretty darn well,” she said.
The result was much better than the harsh lines of the white bra.
“It’s pretty seamless,” she said. “I don’t think you can see anything.”
From every angle and distance, the skin-toned bra was superior.
“This is really invisible, and remember, there are lots of skin tone options out there, so find one that works for your skin,” Caldwell said.

Finally, she put the viral hack to the test.
“Let’s try this red bra theory,” she said. She slipped into the lingerie, then back into the white T-shirt.
From a few paces away, the bra blended in, but upon closer inspection, it failed the test.
“You can’t see it at first, but if you look closely, you can definitely see it! It’s not really invisible at all,” Caldwell said.
While the bra didn’t shine through fire-engine red, it was a warm beacon underneath the true white of the top.
“This hack didn’t really work for me,” Caldwell said. But she had an expert recommendation.
“I’m going to stick to a skin-tone color instead,” she told viewers.
