Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that the newly announced Star Wars films are already ‘pretty far along’ in development.
Three new live-action movies in the sci-fi franchise were announced at the huge Star Wars Celebration event in London, which ran over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Lucasfilm president now has revealed that the new pictures from directors Dave Filoni, who is also helming the upcoming Disney Plus series Ahsoka, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and James Mangold have been in the works for some time.
This comes after a bumpy period of time which saw the studio reportedly shelve Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins’ film Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, as well as an unnamed Star Wars movie produced by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.
However, in what must surely be music to Star Wars fans’ ears, it looks like there’s now much to be excited about again in the franchise’s cinematic future with these three films.
‘We’re pretty far along. These are things, as you can imagine, certainly looking at what Dave’s been doing with Ahsoka, that’ll be at least six, seven years building to what it is we’re going to be doing in a movie,’ she revealed.
