Trouser Suit

WHETHER going to a garden party or an exhibition opening, I tend to stick to a suit. I feel ready for anything in one.

This lightweight Uniqlo suit ticks all my summer event boxes.

Layered over a lilac striped shirt it can take me from work to an evening event with the change from loafers to heels.

These pants have elastic at the back so I don’t have to worry about eating my way through the whole buffet and they have pockets, which is a must!

I can also add a camisole and a fascinator into this suit mix for Ascot, or would wear it with plimsolls and a Panama for Wimbledon.

Shirt, £29.90; trousers, £34.90; blazer, £69.90; all Uniqlo; heels, £85, Charles & Keith; bag, £36, ASOS

Jumpsuit

I LOVE one-stop dressing, as I like to call it – one item like a dress or jumpsuit and you are ready to go. Just accessorise.

When it comes to occasions, this jumpsuit is perfect.

Pink is still one of the colours of the season – thanks to the upcoming Barbie movie – and I adore this shade.

The cut is also super flattering.

A tie waist belt accentuates the smallest area on my body and the wide-leg trousers are so slimming.

I am loving silver this season too, so I have paired it with slingback kitten heels, which are so comfortable I’ll be able to go all day and night in them – ideal occasion-wear shoes.

Jumpsuit, £59.99 Mango; heels, £35.99, Zara; bag, £32, Next

Dress

WHATEVER the occasion a midi dress is my go-to look.

It is easy to throw on without too much thought. Sort your accessories and you’re good to go.

This tiered midi dress is perfect for a spring event, whether a wedding, the races or a party.

The jacquard fabric feels extra luxe and the ties on the sleeve are added detail.

I’ve paired it with some gold platforms – stilettos would sink into the ground, so a sturdy heel is my safest bet.

The applique floral clutch screams occasion and for only £33, makes you feel like you’ve blown the budget on an extra special outfit.

Dress, £65, Monki; heels, £39.99, New Look; bag, £33, Nasty Gal

Skirt

WHEN dressing for an occasion, keep in mind a surprise downpour is always possible – so I cover up and layer.

In a scorcher, covering up keeps the sun off your skin so you are cooler and if it’s chilly, you’re shielded from biting winds.

Thankfully, the maxi skirt has made a roaring comeback and that fits the bill.

This monochrome polkadot style is a timeless print for all occasions that warrant dressing up. Or dress it down with a T-shirt and trainers.

Pair with a tonal blazer and a camisole, bodysuit or plain top underneath.

Lift neutral shades with a pop of colour or metallics like these heels.

Blazer, £65, Marks & Spencer; skirt, £59.99, Mango; shoes, £26, Asos.com
