It could almost be the plot of a romcom: a couple jet to Costa Rica on their third date after matching on Hinge but ended up stranded in the Central American country for three months.
We all know how the end would pan out in a Richard Curtis movie, but did Matt Robertson and Khani Le from Netflix documentary Longest Third Date get their happy ending?
Their unlikely date started when Matt suggested snapping up cheap flights to Costa Rica for a long weekend away and Khani, throwing caution to the wind, agrees.
As the feature shows, the first few hours of their third meeting are a little awkward, namely down to being tired from travel, but they soon loosen up after a couple of drinks.
After a few days exploring the abundant natural beauty and pristine beaches of Costa Rica, Matt and Khani’s trip is thrown into chaos when their flight is cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead of just a few days, Matt and Khani end up stranded for three months, after trying multiple times to rebook flights, making the most of their time together by staying in various luxury Airbnbs.

Longest Third Date sees the couple go through ups and downs, including a pregnancy scare and Khani desperately trying to keep their blossoming romance a secret from her father.
Viewers also see her question whether she’s ready for a relationship right now having been in previous difficult romances.
But the pair bond over having different themed cooking nights, catching up with friends over Zoom and taking online classes together, including dancing, to stave off the pandemic boredom.

Towards the end of their time in Costa Rica, Matt confirms to journalists, to Khani’s surprise, that they are boyfriend and girlfriend, just before they manage to secure a flight home.
But are they still together?
Fans of romance will be pleased as the answer is: yes.
At the end of Longest Third Date, it’s revealed Khani and Matt are very much in love and moved in together just a month after landing back in New York.

The pair have also met each other’s families and are pet parents to an adorable Blue Frenchie named Banks.
