Woman wears bargain dress to pal’s wedding – but people are all saying the same thing… so what do you think?
A WOMAN thought she’d bagged the ultimate bargain outfit to wear to her friend’s upcoming wedding.
But when her eBay purchase arrived, her social media followers told her in no uncertain terms that she couldn’t wear it to the big day.

She then unpacked it and tried it on in a videoTikTok/jess_einaudi
TikTok’s Jess posted a video on her account @jess_einaudi where she explained her fashion dilemma.
She said: “I’m going to a black tie wedding this weekend and I did something kind of crazy.
“I ordered a dress on eBay and it just arrived,” she continued as she had her finger firmly crossed that it wasn’t “ugly” as she “didn’t have time to get a new one.”
Jess then unboxed the vintage style, corseted 80s prom dress, which has a beige background with a yellow floral pattern imprinted on it.
As she held it up to the camera and prepared to try it on, she continued: “Ok, it’s cute.
“I got it because it kind of looks like that Markarian brand – with their brocade, corset dresses.
“It’s really beautiful – the corset is an overlay and then it’s [got a] floor length skirt and has some tulle underpinning.”
The next time Jess was in front of the camera, she was wearing the Princess style dress and was thrilled to say that it fitted.
She added: “First impression – it’s giving a little Medieval times. I really like the corset top situation.
“I feel like it would be even cuter if the bust line was a little bit lower.”
The social media user then shared how she was going to wear it with her hair up and gold pearl drop earrings to accentuate the dress’ details.
She was also considering taking it to be altered and turning it into a glam strapless number.
As Jess modelled her finished look once again, she asked her 28.3k followers for their advice.
She said: “Tell me what you think – do I need to lower the bust? Is it too costume-y, or is it perfect for a Spring wedding?”
And they certainly didn’t hold back on their opinion – as they told her it was far too bridal to be appropriate for a guest.
One person wrote: “It’s so cute but WAY too light in colour for a wedding guest dress.”
A second was in agreement, as they wrote: “Girl no, way too bridal!”
A third said: “Cute but tbh it looks too much like a wedding dress.” As a fourth said: “Very bridal, pass hun. Way too light.”
Meanwhile, brides waded into the debate, as they said that the dress was either identical or similar to what they’d worn to walk down the aisle.
One recalled: “Very close to my wedding gown, you can’t wear that to a wedding!”
A second slammed: “OMG I literally wore this exact dress to my own wedding as a whole bride.”
However, Jess showed the comments didn’t affect her decision and that she followed her gut.
Giving an update, she revealed: “I went with strapless, but I kept the corset neckline.
“Shoutout to my go-to tailor for pulling this off in 2 days.
“And I can bring up the hemline to make it a midi to wear it again in the future.”
