James Corden made sure his final The Late Late Show went out with a bang with none other than a special message from Joe Biden.
The US president was among the stars bidding the Gavin and Stacey actor, 44, farewell after nearly eight years at the helm of the CBS late-night programme.
The History Boys actor’s last stint kicked off with an hour-long special which saw actual Tom Cruise transform into The Lion King’s warthog Pumbaa and an emotional Carpool Karaoke with Adele.
But the main event, which also featured Will Ferrell and Harry Styles, saw none other than the current US president, who recently confirmed he would be running for re-election in 2024, rib James.
It’s not the American leader’s first stint on The Late Late Show, after appearing in 2022 sketch which saw James epically fail as the 86-year-old’s new White House assistant.
Appearing in a surprise video on Thursday’s episode, Biden joked to James that he was ‘surprised you lasted eight years in any job,’ referencing his poor performance as his newest employee.

‘I’m going to miss you buddy,’ Biden said, before thanking James for ‘never making me sing in a car.’
James began his final episode of The Late Late Show from the stairwell of the CBS building after being unable to open a door to the stage.
His guests Will and Harry offered unhelpful advice, with the Anchorman actor telling him ‘it’s a really well-built door.’

‘Terrible timing with this door thing eh? Because it’s your last show,’ the As It Was singer added unhelpfully.
James was eventually granted access to the studio after discovering the code was 1111.
‘We have a great show for you this evening, we really, really do,’ he promised.
