I didn’t want to fork out £70 on a Skims dress so made my own for just £17 – nobody tell Kim how easy it was
A FASHION fan has shared how she was able to make her own Skims dress for a lot cheaper than Kim’s pricey range.
The DIY fan made her own Skims dupe for less than a fraction of the price which she says was super easy.

Alayna said in a TikTok video online: “Okay nobody tell Miss Kardashian that it is way too easy to make a Skims dress.”
First the fashion fan used a dress she already owned to draw a body outline and neckline.
“The first thing I needed to do was take a dress I already owned and a mark out neckline and the body.”
“We’re already halfway there. You can see that this looks a lot like a dress already.”
“So make sure you add some seam allowance, quickly look over the work and then cut it out.”
Alayna then repeated the same process with the back of the dress.
“And then the same process for the back of taking the dress that I already owned to make a pattern and then just cut it out .”
Next we’re gonna add bias tape here [the neckline.] The bias tape is to stabilise the neckline.
“Don’t worry about arm pits we will do this at the very end.”
“After our bias tape is in we’re gonna put the two pieces together, pin and then sew all the way down.”

“Make sure you’re using a stretch needle here because we’re using a stretchy fabric and when using stretch go on zig zag.”
Alayna then sews her cut outs together on a sewing machine.
“Then this is me sewing the two panels together front and back, remember to never sew over pins and now I have a dress that just needs some straps.”
“I used more bias tape for mine, then I took a measurement of my shoulder, multiplied it by two and cut that out of bias tape and then I just stitched all the way around the armpit.”
After this Alayna’s DIY Skims dress was complete.
She said: “It is cosy, it is tight, it looks great. The only downside is I can’t walk in it so I’ll probably add a slit in later.
Alayna said: “Thats on $22 dollars and not $90 [£70].”
