Lionel Richie has insisted he’s never had plastic surgery and never would.
The iconic musician 73, gave a few reasons why he’d never go under the knife, from recovery time to mistakes, but it was his comment about God that came as a particular surprise.
Speaking in an interview published two days after his blockbuster performance at King Charles III’s Coronation Concert, dad-of-three Lionel spoke candidly about cosmetic surgery.
‘[Plastic surgery] locks you in for that year [while you recover] – and after that you can’t go naturally, you’re staying right there,’ the star said.
He added: ‘You try and go back to reset, and you can’t. [And] that s*** goes wrong!’
Speaking to MailOnline, Lionel also noted: ‘[And] God might not recognize me, so I want to make sure he knows me.’

Better safe than sorry.
On Sunday, Lionel delighted those in attendance at the Coronation Concert, including Princess Charlotte and Prince George, who were seen dancing away to the crooner’s famous hits.

Standing in the royal box, the youngsters bopped to the sound of the American hitmaker’s song All Night Long, and it was truly a sight to behold.
Adorably, Charlotte was also seen singing the words to Katy Perry’s hits Roar and Firework when the US singer took to the stage in a shiny gold metallic ball gown.
It was certainly a special late night out for the Prince and Princess of Wales’s two eldest children, who are just nine and eight, after a busy day on Saturday at their grandfather’s coronation.

Following his British gig, Motown legend Lionel shared pictures from his time mingling with the monarchs on his Instagram account and made it clear he had a blast.
Alongside a collection of snaps and footage of himself on stage at Windsor, Lionel wrote: ‘All night long at Windsor Castle’.
