Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby made their highly-anticipated return to This Morning on Monday.

However, as reports continue to swirl concerning the state of their friendship behind the scenes, the pair refrained from making any mention of the speculation as they opened the programme.

The show began in an unconventional way to promote Disney’s new live-action movie The Little Mermaid with Halle Bailey, with acclaimed composer Alan Menken playing some of his most celebrated scores on the piano.

Holly, 42, beamed from ear-to-ear while standing next to Phillip, 61, as he joked that she could audition for a Disney production.

After making their first introduction, the duo sat down with Gyles Brandreth and Camilla Tominey to discuss the top headlines of the day – but refrained from bringing up their own friendship making the news.

Instead, they began the discussion by talking about Eurovision, with Holly admitting that she thoroughly enjoyed Finland’s runner-up performance.

More to follow.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
