Richard Finn, a man who had appeared in the Channel 4 documentary Skint, was found dead in a shed where he had been sheltering while experiencing homelessness, an inquest has heard.

The 45-year-old, known in Grimsby as ‘Finny’ or Little Richard’, starred in the TV programme which shone a light on deprived communities around the UK, making his appearance in 2014.

A toxicology test and post mortem found a number of drugs in Finn’s body at the time of his death, with it believed that several of the substances contributed to his death. The drugs were reportedly all used to help people lower their heart rates when in need of calming down.

An inquest into Finn’s death took place on Tuesday May 16 at Cleethorpes Town Hall, where his mother paid tribute to him.

‘He would often pop and see me and bring me little ornaments that made him think of me. I still have some up around the house to this day. He was a loveable rogue,’ she said, the Grimsby Live reported.

‘It was a big shock when I was told the news about his death. It was so unexpected and I was so upset because he only got to live to 45, but he will never be forgotten.’
