A wholesome Zelda player has found a clever way to pet dogs in Tears Of The Kingdom, and surprisingly, it doesn’t involve Link’s hands.

To the disappointment of many Zelda fans, it’s still not possible to pet dogs in Tears Of The Kingdom, despite having the freedom to do almost everything else you could imagine.

In a game centred around hands, you’d expect there to be an option to shower love on any cute pups you come across. However, this feature seems to be exclusively reserved for interactions with horses.

While Nintendo works hard, Zelda fans work harder, as shown by one committed player who discovered a smart workaround to pet dogs – despite Link being unable to use his own hands to do so.

As players let their imaginations run wild with their Ultrahand inventions, it was inevitable that someone would come up with the idea of constructing a petting mechanism designed specifically for dogs.

One Zelda fan named Noah took it upon themselves to bring this idea to life by inventing a mechanical arm that oscillates back and forth.

With the ingenious creation in action, the player invites the dog to position itself beneath the arm, allowing it to relish in some well-deserved scratches and affection.

Noah’s video quickly went viral on Twitter, with many fellow players requesting instructions to build the mechanical arm themselves.

Another player suggested Noah swaps out the wheel, which serves as the hand of the arm, to a skeleton bokoblin hand to perfect his creation.

Others couldn’t help but notice the dog’s blissful animation when being showered with affection from the mechanical arm, raising even more questions about the puzzling omission of a dog-petting feature in the game.

Fingers crossed that Nintendo listens to the Zelda community’s feedback and considers adding this sought-after feature in an upcoming update or DLC release.
