A well-regarded anime leaker has claimed anime adaptations of Ghost Of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be revealed soon.

While it’s never been formally announced, everyone knows that Sucker Punch is working on a sequel to Ghost Of Tsushima. Even if the job listings didn’t give it away, Ghost Of Tsushima was too much of a money maker for Sony not to turn it into a new franchise.

Sony isn’t content with just a sequel, though, as a live action movie adaptation was announced less than a year after the game’s launch.

There’s still nothing that’s been seen of that but there are now rumours of an anime adaptation, as well as one for fellow samurai game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

These claims come via Twitter account oecuf0, which isn’t really known for video game leaks but is a well-regarded source within the anime community, boasting a near perfect track record for anime leaks.

They began teasing an anime adaptation of a Sony property at the beginning of May, though their hints became less cryptic over time, eventually claiming that two samurai games are getting the anime treatment: one a cross platform title and the other a PlayStation exclusive.

The latter can only be Ghost Of Tsushima and while oecuf0 has shared little else about that, they recently dropped any pretence and openly claimed that the Sekiro anime will be announced very soon.

Anime adaptations of video games, while not new, have grown in popularity in the last few years, especially over on Netflix, which hosts the likes of Tekken: Bloodline and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Sony has also shown a vested interest in adapting its games for TV and film, so a Ghost Of Tsushima anime isn’t that surprising. Although it’ll be interesting to see how the IP is handled by an actual Japanese production team.

Could this mean we’ll see the anime announced at the PlayStation showcase next week? Sony has only said to expect ‘new games and new IP’ so, unless it’s cheekily hiding something, it’s unlikely to spend any time on its film or TV projects.

It’s already been suggested that Ghost Of Tsushima 2 won’t make an appearance, at least according to the fairly reliable Jeff Grubb on the latest Game Mess Decides podcast.
