Inside No. 9 fans baffled by latest episode appearing as Lee Mack game show: ‘My brain is shattered’-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

Inside No. 9 fans were once again tricked by the BBC drama’s creators Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith after they pulled off a mind-bending twist with Lee Mack.
The anthology series, which is going on pause after season 9 next year, aired its latest episode on the Line of Duty broadcaster on Thursday and it’s safe to say it was not what fans were expecting.
Viewers had settled in at home expecting to watch Hold On Tight, set on a bus and starring Robin Askwith, which had been promoted by The League of Gentlemen stars on their social media.
But moments before the episode was due to air, an announcer revealed there had been a last-minute change in the schedule and instead of Inside No. 9 and game show with Lee, 54, would run.
The comedian proceeded to present 3 By 3, which featured nine contestants and initially appeared be a normal game show – until things took a dark turn.
It then became apparent that 3 By 3 was in fact an Inside No. 9 episode all along – and fans were shook.

One shocked viewer simply wrote: ‘Omg #insideno9 totally got me,’ while another added: ‘Wow, well I’m never ever going to look at any quiz show the same way after that. I’m going to think somethings gonna go wrong every time The Chase is on!!’
A third remarked: ‘Still thinking about last night’s #InsideNo9. Incredible feat of absolute brass neck from @ReeceShearsmith and @SP1nightonly. Utterly loved it. Sorry we won’t see @Robin_Askwith on the buses though.’
Many others also expressed their shock at the twist, with one branding it ‘mindblowing’ and joked it had left their ‘brain shattered.’

As for the bus episode, Reece and Steve previously told Metro.co.uk the most common pitch they recieve from wannabe Inside No. 9 writers is an episode set on a double-decker.

It became such an ‘in-joke’ the pair said they relented for season 8 – but it remains to be seen if it will actually air. Who knows what other tricks they’ve got up their sleeves…Inside No. 9 continues on BBC Two and iPlayer on Thursday at 10pm.
