Kelsey Grammer was super confused at Alison Hammond’s sudden interruption of his answer during an interview on This Morning.

The Frasier star was having a lovely chat with Alison and co-host Dermot O’Leary, who always present the show on Fridays, when Alison suddenly informed him that they were going to have to take an emergency advert break.

The unexpected outburst was because a slightly frazzled Alison, 48, got an unknown message in her ear.

She informed Kelsey: ‘Unfortunately, we have got a little bit of an issue. We’re going to have to throw to break.’

The 68-year-old actor then shifted back in his chair, looked around the studio, and responded: ‘Oh.’

Alison told viewers: ‘We’ll see you very soon’ and the trio then sat in silence as the cameras continued to roll.

Breaking the awkward moment, Dermot, 49, stepped in.

He said: ‘We’ve been told we had a little issue in our ears, but now we’ve been told that we’re back.’

The group then burst into laughter at the unusual situation and continued with the interview. That’s live TV for you!

Kelsey told Dermot and Alison everything he could about the reboot of Frasier, teasing that they’d be some returning faces, as well as new people to fall in love with. Little is currently known about the plot as Paramount+ are keeping cards close to their chests.

The sitcom is returning after 20 years off-air, and fans were happy to hear there would be some returning characters – Peri Gilpin will be reprising her role as the iconic Roz Doyle, and Bebe Neuwirth is coming back as Lilith Sternin. While Nicholas Lyndhurst has joined the cast, alongside Jess Salgueiro, Anders Keith and Jack Cutmore-Scott – who will star as Frasier’s son, Frederick.

Dermot complimented Kelsey on creating such an iconic role, and he responded: ‘You just hope that you’ve done something that matters if you’ve decided on a life of service.’

He then compared his own career to his fictional character, who works as a radio psychiatrist: ‘What’s odd is the character of Frasier has done that [something that matters]. He wanted to serve people, and make their lives better,’ he explained.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
