Travis Scott was among the famous faces to attend the premiere of The Idol at Cannes Film Festival and oozed cool as he stepped out in sunglasses.

The 32-year-old rapper, real name Jacques Bermon Webster II, posed up a storm for the cameras while enjoying himself on the red carpet, even stopping for a moment to flash a big grin.

Opting for an all-black outfit, Travis looked suave in a long smart coat, with fingerless gloves, and a black top.

The Idol is an upcoming HBO series that follows self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, Tedros (The Weeknd), who enters a complicated relationship with rising pop idol Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp).

The show has been embroiled in controversy in recent months after The Rolling Stones claimed the project was in ‘turmoil’ after multiple script changes and the exit of director Amy Seimetz.

Further chaos was said to have then ensued when Sam Levinson took over and scrapped the ‘nearly-finished’ $54-75million (£45-62million) project to rewrite and reshoot the entire thing.

However, The Weeknd shut down the backlash, insisting that reports were ‘far from the truth’.

Speaking to Interview in April, he said: ‘A lot of people work hard on these projects.

‘When I’m in my world, and you guys are coming at me, “it’s like, alright, cool. I’m a big boy. I can figure it out.”

‘But you have 200 people working hard on a project like this, that hurts. Especially when what they’re saying is far from the truth, but, what can you do?’

Travis’s appearance at the star-studded event, which also saw The Weeknd and Lily-Rose lap up the limelight, comes just days after his bodyguard was seen handcuffed to a suitcase that had his suspected new album name embellished on it.

Utopia – the rumoured title – is the hotly-anticipated release as the American artist paused his music career after a devastating crowd crush at his event, Astroworld Festival, left 10 people dead in November 2021.

Many more were left injured in the crush, with hundreds of lawsuits filed against the dad-of-two, as well as Live Nation and other event contributors.

According to industry bigwigs, Travis’s album is due for release any day now.
