It only seems like yesterday Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan won the winter edition of Love Island.

The pair walked off into the sunset together £50,000 richer, and are still together now with the couple regularly posting loved-up snaps online.

But as we dust off our sunglasses and put away our waterproofs, thoughts of winter turn to sunnier seasons as we gear up for the eagerly-anticipated summer Love Island.

We’ve finally had a start date confirmed, with ever-eager fans speculating who this year’s singletons will be and what surprises could be in store.

Producers will be hoping for a better reception to the main series, as the January series saw the show slump to its lowest ratings in seven years.

When does Love Island 2023 start?

Producers have confirmed the much-loved ITV reality show will return to our screens on Monday, June 5, following weeks of speculation.

A press release for Love Island says: ‘Returning to ITVX and ITV2 in June, the Islanders must do their best to flirt, date and couple up in a bid to avoid being ‘dumped’ from the Island.

‘With new arrivals, heads may turn, while others will prove their true feelings. From romance and heart-to-hearts to betrayal, bombshells, and broken hearts, there’s never a dull moment in the ultimate search for love.

‘More texts, fire pit gatherings, and challenges await the lovestruck Islanders, meaning there’ll be plenty for them to dish the dirt on in the Beach Hut.

‘Twists and turns will follow every step of the way, with shock recouplings, unexpected breakups and dramatic dumpings.’

We already can’t wait.

Love Island 2023 is expected to last for eight weeks – so if June 5 is indeed the premiere, it could air until the very end of July this year.

Love Island: Aftersun and hit podcast Love Island: The Morning After are also set to return for an extra dose of reality TV goodness.

Who are the rumoured contestants?

This year’s batch of singletons has not yet been announced, but it has been rumoured they’ve been selected.

A source told The Sun: ‘ITV have already lined up the islanders who will be heading to the show’s villa in Majorca.

‘The cast will fly out late next month ready for the show to begin in just eight weeks.’

Rumours are now swirling about potential contestants as anticipation for the series grows.

Among those rumoured include economics graduate Andre Furtado and actress Molly Marsh, who is none other than the daughter of Coronation Street star Janet Marsh.

Another singleton rumoured to be starring is Chloe Baker, a PrettyLittleThing and Lipsy London model.

Where will the show be filmed?

Despite the winter series taking place in South Africa, this year’s summer edition will see crews return to the Majorca villa.

You can find the villa near Sant Llorenc des Cardassar in Majorca, where a new villa was built for the 2022 series.

This is the fourth iteration of the villa, with the previous filming location also being found in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar.

The original villa was located in Fiji on Armstrong Island, while the villa used from 2015 to 2016 was in Ses Salines, Majorca.

Who is hosting?

Maya Jama has already been confirmed as this year’s host, having taken over from Laura Whitmore in the last season

She enjoyed a successful debut during the winter series, with the star saying she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the support from fans following her appearance.

Ahead of taking on her new position, Maya shared her excitement to be able to host a show she’s already a fan of.

‘I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows!’ she said.

‘I can’t wait to get into the villa to meet all of the islanders.’

Comedian Iain Stirling has also been confirmed to voiceover each episode.

He first joined the show in 2015, and his commentary has become a much-loved part of the show’s current format.

Love Island season 10 will return to ITV on June 5. Catch up with past episodes of Love Island on ITVX.
