Ruth Langsford was the anchor on today’s Loose Women episode, less than 24 hours after husband Eamonn Holmes’ bombshell interview aired.

During the chat with GB News Eamonn hit out at Philip Schofield in multiple claims about life on another ITV show – This Morning. He claimed Phil ‘created an atmosphere where people hated him.’

‘People would avoid him in the corridor. He didn’t look at anybody, didn’t know anybody’s name,’ he added.

His interview comes after Phil, 61, resigned from This Morning on May 20. Nearly a week later, he issued another statement, confessing to having an affair with a much younger male colleague whilst still married to his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Lowe.

Eamonn, who previously fronted Friday’s This Morning episodes with Ruth, claimed the young runner in question was ‘promoted’ without being asked, and was moved on to Loose Women from This Morning. He called for the ‘unprecedented move’ to be investigated, particularly ‘who authorised it.’

He also alleged that Phil’s lover would be ‘delivered from Phillip’s London home [to the ITV studio], usually on a Friday morning, because Thursday was playtime when he and Phillip would hit the town.’

Ruth, 63, was even mentioned in the interview, including a claim that she is ‘still in touch’ with the colleague who had a relationship with Phil.

The presenter had to push all that to one side to present Loose Women, and some viewers commended her professionalism.

‘Poor Ruth looks tired and a bit drawn…Good for her turning up for #LooseWomen today,’ wrote one person.

During the show, Ruth did bring up Eamonn but avoided any discussion around the interview. Instead, she spoke about how the couple feels when it’s raining on holiday.

‘I get really sulky, like a petulant child. Eamonn will say: “It’s alright”, she told the panel.
