Inside latest celeb craze that sees lookalike daughters pose with famous mums – can you see what they have in common?

ONCE there was the mini-me – now the hot trend among famous mums is the twinny-me, going double with their lookalike daughters in matching outfits for online snaps, modelling shoots and red carpets.

Mel B and daughter Phoenix, 24, are the latest to ride the twinny-me wave, modelling lingerie and swimwear for Pour Moi’s Own Your Confidence range.

They join mother-and-daughter acts Beyonce and Blue Ivy, Heidi Klum’s girl Leni and Amanda Holden’s Lexi.

Here we cast an eye over the glamorous duos who prove they are on to a twinner.

JUST like her former supermodel mum, Leni has already graced the cover of many a magazine and has landed lucrative modelling contracts with Dior Beauty and GHD.

The 19-year-old was born after the relationship between Heidi and Italian Formula One boss Flavio Briatore broke down in 2003.

She was later adopted by Heidi’s second husband, pop star Seal, who is also dad to Leni’s three younger siblings.

She often copies her 50-year-old mum’s style on the catwalk, and in joint phootshoots, recently appearing together on the cover of Dutch Vogue in bright suits.

But in May, their campaign for lingerie brand Intimissimi sparked a backlash, with one tweeting: “Sexualizing your daughter the moment they turn legal is weird.”

Leni hit back, saying she “loved” working with Heidi and that it had been “an amazing day”.

Kim Kardashian and North West

KIM Kardashian caused yet another storm of controversy when she posted a picture of herself and her daughter North West in matching black ensembles earlier this month.

The post — captioned “It’s North’s World, I’m just in it” — showed the nine-year-old in leather and gold chains, twinning with smaller versions of Kim’s crop top and ultra-tight trousers, and carrying a more mini edition of her mum’s Chanel bag.

Some observers commented that North — the oldest of Kim’s four children with her former husband Kanye West — was “too young” for the look.

Even so, others praised the pair, with one writing: “She’s legit your mini-me, both so beautiful.”

Beyonce and Blue Ivy

EVER since she was a baby, Blue Ivy’s megastar mum has played at the two of them twinning up, with matching dresses and even swimsuits.

Dubbed “the most famous baby in the world” by Time magazine, Beyonce and Jay-Z’s oldest daughter was gracing the red carpet in lookalike outfits as soon as she could walk, wearing a shimmering gown that matched Beyonce’s at the 2016 MTV Awards, gold foil dresses at a 2018 art gala and identical glittering skirts at the Lion King premiere in Los Angeles in 2019.

Blue Ivy, 11, was invited on to the stage at her mum’s sell-out London show this week, where she danced in another twinny look — a matching silver outfit.

Cindy Crawford and Kaia

SINCE Kaia Gerber first followed in her model mum’s footsteps, making her catwalk debut for Calvin Klein in 2017, it has been a case of like mother, like daughter.

The 21-year-old offspring of Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber is a dead ringer for her catwalk queen mum and has worked with numerous fashion houses, including Versace, Chanel, ­Valentino and Marc Jacobs.

Crowned Model of the Year at the 2018 Fashion Awards, Kaia and her mum have enjoyed playing up to the image, even posing in T-shirts emblazoned with the words “Mom Genes”.

The two often pose in similar outfits and have shared the cover of Vogue magazine in France and the Netherlands.

On her 18th birthday in 2019, Kaia recreated a Versace bondage dress which her mum had famously worn to the MTV Awards in 1992.

Mel B and Phoenix

IT’S a case of Two Become One for the former Spice Girl and her eldest.

The spitting image of her mum, Phoenix often pays tribute to Mel, 48, on her Instagram and recently recreated three of her famous looks, including the gold two-piece she wore for the 1997 Spice World poster.

Phoenix also wore a patchwork bikini top and trousers to reflect Mel’s look on the Spice Up Your Life album cover and a leopard-print top and black mini skirt, mirroring her mum’s outfit in the Say You’ll Be There video, which was shot when Mel was just 20 — four years younger than Phoenix is now.

The daughter of Mel’s first husband, Jimmy Gulzar, Phoenix was raised by the singer after the couple split in 2000 and is now a model and self-styled entrepreneur.

As well as posing in lingerie and swimwear for their latest shoot, Phoenix adopted Scary Spice’s trademark leopard print and they posed in cropped corset tops and black trousers.

Amanda Holden and Lexi

AT 17 it’s clear to see that Lexi Hughes has inherited her mum’s good looks — and the modelling world agrees.

As soon as she turned 16, Lexi, whose dad is record producer Chris Hughes, was signed up by Storm, the modelling agency that discovered Kate Moss.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda couldn’t be prouder of her lookalike daughter, saying: “She has a very natural look and she just looks beautiful.”

But while Amanda, 52, is known for her revealing outfits on the ITV talent show, she has said she confiscates anything she thinks is too revealing from the teenager — and keeps it for herself!

THEY say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and for celebrity kids it’s a must-have look.
But it hasn’t always been.
Remember when you were young and your mum used to dress you and your siblings, or worse the whole family, in matching gear for a family photo?
I wince at the flashback.
Back then it was considered a bit naff, but fast forward to today and it seems that every A-lister and their daughter is a clobber clone.
Style crowd
But forget the Eighties, when everyone would wear matching bright cable knits; or the Nineties, when co-ordinated nautical looks could be seen hanging in everyone’s hallway – these days twinsets are far more stylish.
You can be a doppel-glamour duo, like Amanda Holden and her daughter Lexi, who like to match their cut-out dresses, or Hells Angels, like Kim Kardashian and young North West, whose twinsets are made of leather.
You could take it to Heidi Klum and Leni’s extreme lengths and pair your pants.
But whatever you decide to do, if you want to be in with the style crowd you’ll need to be seeing double.
