Phillip Schofield’s young lover ‘paid off’ by ITV after affair ended and now pulls pints at remote pub-Josie Copson-Entertainment – Metro
‘It’s obviously been a big downfall.’
A new report claims that the young runner who Phillip Schofield had an affair with was given money by ITV after the relationship ended, and he now works in a pub
Phillip Schofield’s young lover was reportedly paid off by ITV after the affair came to an end, and so he took a job outside the showbiz industry at a remote pub.
Former This Morning presenter Schofield, 61, left the show last month and later resigned from ITV completely after admitting he had lied about the affair with a young runner.
The man, who has not been named, was 15 when they met, with Schofield saying the ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair began after he turned 18.
The relationship occurred while Schofield was still married to his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Lowe, the mother of his two daughters – Ruby and Molly – and before he came out as gay.
Although, the unnamed ITV worker was ‘determined to be famous,’ the end of his affair allegedly also marked the start of the end for his career at the broadcaster.
Following the souring of the relationship he was moved across from This Morning to Loose Women, and it was then claimed he was given money to leave altogether, the Daily Mail reports.

According to the outlet, sources have claimed the runner was given a financial settlement from the broadcaster, which ITV has reportedly refused on numerous occasions to comment on or deny.
An insider reportedly claimed someone senior at ITV must have known about the payment as it required ‘people of some seniority’ to sign it off.
However, some sources report that it was a redundancy payout, rather than linked to the relationship.
A friend of the young man told the Telegraph that he was ‘a prominent personality on This Morning’ and the next stage of his career would have been the production team.
While working at ITV the source claimed that he never did the boring errands such as making tea, and instead described himself as head runner.
‘He should be having a good career in television now, but because of this he’s not,’ they added.

‘For someone who was determined to be famous, it’s quite striking.’
They also claimed to know his new occupation, and it’s far removed from his previous career.
‘He said he had found work at a remote pub B&B miles away and he hoped his family and friends would visit. He was looking for a room to rent. It’s obviously been a big downfall,’ the source explained.
This comes after Eamonn Holmes’ late-night interview on Monday with GB News’ Dan Wootton, where he called for the ‘unprecedented’ promotion of the runner to be investigated, particularly ‘who authorised it.’

Holmes, 63, claimed he heard from a reliable source that the runner would arrive via taxi from Schofield’s home on Friday mornings after they went out on Thursday nights.
Holmes went on to claim the young man was ‘in a bad way’ and he and Holmes’ wife Ruth Langsford kept an eye on him, but he ‘never admitted’ any sort of relationship with Schofield but he would ‘phone often’ for ‘comfort’.
ITV has instructed a barrister to conduct an external review of the facts surrounding Schofield’s departure from This Morning. The broadcaster will also reportedly be challenged by MPs over his departure and affair confession.
