WWE superstar Tommaso Ciampa has undergone an epic transformation as he prepares for his return to action.

The 38-year-old wrestler has been out of the ring for months now after undergoing surgery for a hip labrum issue which was causing him pain in his glute and back.

A 17-year veteran of the business, Ciampa is now focused on getting back in the ring and he’s been keeping fans up to date on his progress.

Over the weekend, he shared a new bulked up selfie showing off his changing figure, noting that his hard work is paying off when it comes to gaining weight to get to his ideal shape.

He wrote alongside the black and white snap: ‘Little post workout check in. This is the heaviest I’ve been in 10 years. But much leaner than I was back then.

‘I just completed my third meso cycle using the RP Hypertrophy App. Stronger and bigger than ever before. Plus, well fed and incredible recovery. Dialed in.’

Fans are impressed with the work, and looking forward to seeing him back doing what he does best after his run on Raw was cut short last year.

One follower replied: ‘I’m praying you make a MESS when you get to Raw. A complete mess!! You vs Gunther now!! Damn I miss seeing you each week….. can’t wait and wish you nothing but health and happiness!’

‘Can’t wait to have you on the main roster. Gonna run through everyone,’ commented another Instagram user, while a third fan added: ‘Future world champion. No one will survive!’

Earlier this year, Ciampa revealed that he was ’16 pounds heavier’ at the 19 week point post op, and while he hadn’t ‘necessarily’ been looking to gain weight during this rehab, his focus has shifted ‘quite a bit’.

‘Far less cardio, far more emphasis placed on recovery from workouts, less volume, and more calories,’ he told his Instagram followers alongside another bulked up selfie.

‘Obviously, in hindsight, this was/is the perfect formula for weight gain. I’m intrigued to see how far I can move the scale at this point without adding on too much fat.

‘But overall, I am beginning to like this “look” much more. I feel full, energized, strong, and hopefully the extra padding gives me a bit more protection when the time finally comes to get back into a ring.’

WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
