The Diablo 4 ‘Welcome to Hell’ billboard in New York gained a double meaning as the skies took on a orange hue due to the wildfires blazing in Canada.

With Diablo 4 being one of the most highly anticipated games of 2023, Blizzard has been going all out in its promotional efforts. 

From enlisting Megan Fox to deliver eulogies for fallen players, to introducing a Diablo-themed meal at KFC in the United States, there’s no shortage of exciting experiences for players. 

Moreover, numerous billboards featuring the game’s main antagonist, Lilith, have sprung up around the world, with one giving onlookers an especially chilling vibe. 

Fans of the game and passers-by were quick to highlight that the billboard, which reads ‘Welcome to Hell,’ strangely resonates with the current circumstances.

Amidst this gloomy scenario, some players found humour by suggesting that this unconventional Diablo 4 promotion is exactly what Blizzard needed. 

To take it a step further, another Twitter user photoshopped Godzilla into the backdrop, implying that this would be the only thing worse that could occur.

The ‘Welcome to Hell’ poster has sparked considerable buzz on social media, even prior to this incident, as players hailing from smaller towns wasted no time hopping on TikTok to joke that their hometowns were, in fact, hellish

There’s also a giant 3D billboard in Times Square, featuring Lilith seemingly lifting miniature workers who appear to be toiling away on the screen. 

In addition to likening New York to hell, others have drawn comparisons between the orange skies and the atmospheric visuals seen in the movie Dune and the sandstorms on the planet Arrakis.
