I did a Skims vs Shein bikini haul – the results were surprising and the $110 set I tried was NSFW

A CONTENT creator has compared the quality of cheap and expensive bathing suits in a bikini haul video released just in time for this summer.

Claire Stone, who has more than 90,000 subscribers on YouTube, shared a haul comparing the budget-friendly brand Shein with pieces from Kim Kardashian’s company Skims.

“Quick disclaimer. Obviously, these are not the most ethical option,” Stone said while discussing Shein in the video.

She was addressing common critiques about the social and environmental impacts of fast fashion.

“However, I did want to show some options that are on the more affordable side,” Stone said.

She tried on several bikinis from the brand.

One was an Zebra-striped two-piece triangle thong bikini that sells for $8.99

The influencer said the piece has “teeny-tiny” coverage, but that she liked it.

Stone also tried on a striped one-piece swimsuit with cut-outs that costs $10.49.

“This is so cute and different,” she said.

“It’s a one-piece, but obviously it covers as much (as) a two-piece.”

Stone appreciated that the swimsuit was adjustable and liked the fit, but admitted the quality was “not great.”

Next, she tried on two micro bikinis that were listed for $9.49 and $9.99.

The influencer admitted they provided very little coverage.

The material was a plastic vinyl that Stone said was supposed to look like leather.

She thought it was cute, but said it had a “weird, fake leather smell.”

The next brand that Stone tried was Skims, which she said was on the pricier side.

She modeled a zip-up swim mock neck top that was $58 and paired it with the $52 matching bottoms for a total of $110.

Stone didn’t think they were worth the money and called the fit unflattering.

“I don’t think they go together that well,” she said.

The influencer added that she wanted to wear the top either fully or halfway zipped up, but said the top came undone on its own, causing her breasts to spill out of the garment.

“The zipper is just not that good quality,” Stone said.

Next, she tried a zip-up bandeau top and matching bottoms which cost $104 in total.

Like the first top she tried on from Skims, Stone said the zipper was cheap and low quality.

“I’m usually a really huge fan,” she said of the brand.

“But I think this is just a total miss.”

Stone also tried on a crochet bikini set worth nearly $200, which she also didn’t like.

“The construction is not great,” she said.

“For damn near $200 for a swimsuit set, I expect it to be perfect and it just isn’t.”

The matching skirt was priced at $148, which Stone called “insane.”

She also tried on swimsuits from the brand Frankies Bikinis, which have an even higher price point than Skims.
