We didn’t see this coming, but Bill Murray and Kelis are reportedly dating.

The Groundhog Day actor, 72, and the Milkshake singer, 43, are said to be romantically involved after the actor was spotted watching her perform at London’s Mighty Hoopla festival last weekend.

Bizarrely, the actor was spotted watching on backstage at the Brockwell Park festival on Saturday.

But an insider has now shared that the pair have ‘hit it off’ and have been ‘getting close for a while’.

The source continued to The Sun: ‘They were both seen at the same hotel, and he’s been to watch her perform several times before he went to Mighty Hoopla.

‘But they’ve also both shared relatively recent bereavements and have that common bond between them.

‘Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap.’

Kelis’ husband Mike Mora died aged 37 in March last year from stomach cancer, while the Ghostbuster actor’s famous costume designer ex-wife, Jennifer Butler, died in 2021.

So with the new rumoured romance, what is Kelis and Bill’s relationship history? Here’s everything you need to know.

Kelis married photographer Michael Mora in 2014, but he sadly died in January last year from stomach cancer.

The pair welcomed a son and a daughter together; seven-year-old Shepherd and two-year-old Galilee.

Before Mora, the Trick Me hitmaker was married to American rapper Nas from 2005 to 2010, however it wasn’t a happy relationship.

In 2018, Kelis accused her ex-husband of ‘mental and physical abuse’ during their marriage.

Kelis, who has a 13-year-old son Knight Jones with Nas, claimed the marriage was ‘really dark’ and said headlines of Rihanna’s assault at the hands of Chris Brown inspired her to leave.

She also added in 2020 that being seven months pregnant with Knight pushed her to file for divorce.

After her divorce from Nas, Kelis reportedly dated American footballer Adawale Ogunleye for a short time.

Back in 2001, Kelis and Pharrell Williams briefly dated, and prior to that the star was with Heart Breakfast presenter Jamie Theakston for around a year.

The Ghostbusters actor’s first wife was Margaret Kelly, who he married in 1980, and divorced 15 years later after he was accused of infidelity.

The actor has two sons from their marriage; Luke Murray, 38, and Homer Murray, 41.

Bill then married his second wife, famous costume designer Jennifer Butler, in 1997 – a year after his divorce.

Jennifer, who died in 2021, worked on films such as Groundhog Day, Firestarter, and Last of the Mohicans.

Over the course of their decade-long marriage, the pair welcomed four sons together; Caleb, 27, Jackson, 25, Cooper, 24, and Lincoln, 20.

However, Jennifer later accused Bill of domestic violence during their relationship.
