I spent £13 at a charity shop & bagged hundreds worth including new Next trousers & a £280 designer bag – my top tips

A PRO secondhand shopper has revealed one of her best preloved hauls yet, after managing to nab more than £300 worth of stuff for just £13.

Caroline is used to hunting through the rails of her local charity shops in Norfolk.

But she was stunned when she found a brand new pair of Next trousers on sale for £3, and a designer bag that usually retails for at least £220.

She said: “Oh my god, I’ve done it again. I went to my local charity shops and I’ve got, I’m going to say, about £300 worth of stuff for £13.

“Let me show you.”

During the two-minute haul, Caroline reveals just some of the bargains she’s picked up – including a brand new board game.

She continued: “Just so you know, I’m saving the best until last.

“Now, I know a lot of my followers may not be interested in this, but I do like a board games, and I saw this board game in the Break charity shop.

“It’s brand new. It is sealed. Pandemic.

“Usually it’s about £30 to buy new. I got this for £7.”

Next up – a pair of full-length, summery-style trousers from Next.

The pro-thrifter added: “These are quite striking but I like them. They are originally from Next, they are brand new. They’re trousers, by the way.

“I’ll show you them properly in a little bit, but they are Next Generation, so they are made with fibers that derive from responsibly sourced wood pulp with a low environmentalImpact.

“Brilliant. From charity, and also helping the environment even more so.

“Now these are… £22. I got them from Break for £3. £3!”

And finally – a designer bag that potentially saved her more than £210.

“I love a bag, many of you will know this by now.

“So when I go into a charity shop and I see there’s a big box and it says, ‘All handbags £3’, I’m gonna dive in there.

“I dove in there and I fished out this. It is leather.

“What’s more, it is an… AmeriBag. These are specifically designed to make sure you have basically a healthy back.

“They are kind to your back, make sure you don’t get back strain

“This was £3 from the EACH charity shop. These retail at £220 new.

“Now this is like new. There aren’t any tags on it, but there is no wear and tear on this bag. It is like new.

“So which item is your favourite? Mine’s the bag, by a country mile.”

Speaking exclusively to Fabulous, Caroline shared some of her top tips for finding a secondhand steal.

Talking about which day is the best to visit your local stores, she commented: “Charity shops tend to get their rails ready for the ‘weekend traffic’ on a Friday.

“So, if you’re able, head to a charity shop on a Friday afternoon when you’re more likely to get your pick of the best bits before the weekend crowds descend.”

She also recommends skipping over the sizing, adding: “When it comes to clothing, never go by sizes! Sizes vary from brand to brand.

“Plus, if people have donated items to charity shops that have been through the wash – there’s a possibility that they may have shrunk.

” So, something that might have otherwise been too big for you, might fit like a glove! I have items in my wardrobe ranging from a size 8 to a size 16. It pays to rummage through all the clothes!”

And apparently, that’s the key trick when it comes to secondhand shopping – rummaging.

“My best tip is always rummage!

“So many people just take a sweeping glance. If you want the good stuff, you need to look in every nook and cranny.

“The Ameribag in my video was in a handbag bin that said “all bags £3”. It was right at the bottom of the bin.

“Many people probably wouldn’t have bothered to work their way down to it. I did.”
