Ruth Langsford has offered to ‘save’ Holly Willoughby, as the This Morning presenter faced a bit of chaos in the studio from her co-stars Dermot O’Leary and Gino D’Acampo.

This comes after Loose Women star Ruth’s husband Eamonn Holmes has been hitting out at This Morning and its presenters, including Holly and Phillip Schofield.

Schofield stepped down from the programme after more than 20 years before quitting all his ITV projects when he admitted his ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a much younger employee.

Since then, Eamonn has unleashed blistering rants on both Schofield and Holly, calling him a ‘liar’ and saying she has a ‘big mouth’.

He elsewhere has accused the duo presenting This Morning ‘drunk’ and claimed Holly was ‘using’ Alison Hammond.

But despite all the comments, Ruth has come to the rescue of Holly.

As the studio turned chaotic with Gino and Dermot, with the former X Factor host pretending to be the Italian TV chef in the kitchen, the Loose Women stars appeared for a preview.

‘Ruth save me!’ Holly began. ‘They’ve taken over!’

Ruth replied: ‘Holly have they been drinking? Do you need us to come and rescue you?’

As Gino chimed in by telling Ruth he was going to come and give her a kiss, Holly shouted: ‘Lock the doors Loose Women!’

This comes after an awkward moment when Gino directly brought up Schofield’s exit, amid rumours of the ‘toxic’ atmosphere at ITV.

‘I was in Italy for a month. I came back two days ago … any news? Anything from the last month that I should know?’ Gino teased.

Dermot looked awkward as Holly chirped extremely happily, ‘No!’

As Gino pressed again, ‘Anything I should know?’ and Holly insisted there was ‘no news,’ Dermot had a The Office moment as he looked directly into the camera while awkwardly gnawing on a pen.

And in case things weren’t awkward enough, Gino picked up on this and asked loudly: ‘Why is Dermot not talking anymore?’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
