TV channel apologises ‘profusely’ after airing picture of wrong Black rapper in ‘serious mistake’-Cydney Yeates-Entertainment – Metro

S4C has apologised for showing a picture of the wrong Black rapper on its flagship magazine show Prynhawn Da.

During Monday’s programme, the Welsh-language channel accidentally aired a photograph of Mace The Great rather than an image of Sage Todz, who refused to perform at this year’s Eisteddfod due to its language policy.

As the picture appeared on screen, the presenter told the show’s guests: ‘We know him don’t we? Sage Todz, yeah. That’s a great picture.’

The monumental error was called out by Sage Todz himself, who demanded ‘better’ of the network on social media.

Sharing a video of the blunder on Twitter, he wrote: ‘@PrynhawnDaS4C we gotta do better than this, I don’t look like @macethegreat_ and I was just in the studio last week 😂🤦🏾‍♂️.’

S4C acknowledged the ‘serious error’ and apologised in a public response.

‘Apologies @SageTodz for a serious error on program @PrynhawnDaS4C – we agree that this is not good enough and recognise that we need to do better,’ they said.

‘We have the greatest respect for you as an artist and an individual.’

The broadcaster also issued an apology on the S4C Y Wasg Press account, adding: ‘We are extremely disappointed about a serious mistake on the Prynhawn Da programme yesterday where another artist’s picture was shown instead of the singer Sage Todz.

‘We have contacted Sage to apologise profusely for the mistake and have discussed steps with the production company to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

‘S4C has huge respect for Sage as one of the most exciting talents in Wales and we are currently collaborating on a number of projects with him. This isn’t good enough and we must do better.’

S4C viewers were shocked and disappointed by the oversight with one writing: ‘Literally no words.’

‘This is just ridiculous,’ another slammed, while a third said: ‘That’s unforgivable to be fair. Absolutely shocking @S4C! You should hang your heads in shame!!!!’
