Disgusted Piers Morgan savagely blasts ‘pathetic individuals’ trolling lost submarine passengers-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

Piers Morgan has revealed his harsh message to ‘trolls abusing’ the passengers onboard a Titanic tourist submarine that has been missing for days.

A rescue mission has been ongoing since Sunday to try and find the OceanGate Expeditions submersible Titan, which was carrying five passengers when it went missing in the Atlantic Ocean, including British billionaire Hamish Harding and renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

With just hours of oxygen left in the submarine, hope remains as search teams said they heard ‘underwater noises’ which could indicate there were potential signs of life.

However, some social media users have hit out at billionaires onboard the submarine visiting the Titanic wreck, despite the trip being for scientific research.

And broadcaster Piers isn’t here for it.

During Wednesday’s Uncensored, he began: ‘Taking risks is the fire behind the human spirit, this ravenous desire to adventure, explore, and conquer has taken us mere human beings to the planet’s tallest peaks, and beyond into space.

‘It drove us to populate and dominate the world, and to this day, burst through the boundaries of science and test the limits of human potential. Without it frankly, we’re just lumps of dull meat.’

He continued by saying those on board the Titan took a ‘huge risk’ and were under ‘no illusion’ about what could occur during their task.

He went on: ‘I wouldn’t do it, I hate heights and depths, but my god I admire those who do this type of thing.’

Piers then addressed online trolling by ‘pathetic individuals’, saying: ‘We live in spiteful times, fuelled by vicious social media, some people seem to think that because the people on the sub are wealthy, then they’re fair game for mindless abuse even if they’re already dead.’

‘I can’t imagine being that disgusting,’ he continued.

‘We used to glorify explorers, we used to revel in their adventure, celebrate them, and certainly we would mourn them if they failed in their risky challenges but now people like to despise them and laugh at them when they’re at their utmost peril,’ he added.

Piers concluded: ‘Now is not the time for puerile abuse on Twitter, or pathetic student politics, if these keyboard had the reigns, we’d never have discovered most of the world we live in, or make it to space or to the depths of the ocean.

‘We’d still be using lychees to cure the plague. Adventurers are the people who strive to go bigger, harder, faster and stronger than the rest of us.

‘They take risks we wouldn’t want to do all the time.’
