Phoebe Waller-Bridge might be in the spotlight but she generally keeps her personal life quiet, although she has now given a little insight into her relationship with boyfriend Martin McDonagh.

Hot off the London premiere of the new Indiana Jones, in which Phoebe plays Indy’s morally grey goddaughter, the Fleabag creator has given fans a glimpse into her private life.

The 37-year-old has been dating the Banshees of Inisherin director, who is 15 years her senior, since 2018 but rarely comments on their relationship.

Despite both being acclaimed creatives, Phoebe shared that the pair don’t swap notes on their work until it’s ready.

‘We don’t really share anything beforehand,’ she told Vanity Fair for their latest cover.

Phoebe agreed that while criticism might be ‘a bit’ demoralizing, it’s mainly because she’s so loved up she doesn’t want things to become a ‘blur’.

‘I just really, really fancy him. So if you show someone something, and you fancy them, it can become this blur,’ continued the star.

However, when Martin is allowed to look over her work, Phoebe is always keen to hear his thoughts since she has admired him for a long time.

She grinned and added: ‘It’s really useful being with someone who I think is a genius, it just ups your game.

‘I would always have wanted Martin McDonagh to think of my work as good, whether I was with him or not. I find out now, either way!’

Phoebe was previously married to author Conor Woodman but split in December 2017 and the Indiana Jones actress has remained tight-lipped about that relationship too.

It was then in January 2018 that Phoebe and Martin arrived together on red carpets, kissing and posing together for pictures.

The creative couple would much rather fans focused on their work than their relationship with Phoebe now a bonafide Hollywood action star.

‘There’s no replacing Indiana Jones in any way,’ she assured Vanity Fair after Harrison Ford’s exit from the franchise which was very ’emotional’ according to producer Simon Emanuel.

Phoebe continued: ‘I feel like the character herself—she did feel fresh on the page, and there is a sense of, is there room in the world for someone like this?’

Apparently, Harrison was a fan of the Crashing star and believed she could be the next big thing in Hollywood.

He added: ‘Whatever it is that we think she should do, she’ll have a better idea.’

Vanity Fair’s June issue in on newsstands June 29.
