Warrior Nun saved thanks to passionate fan campaign after being cancelled by Netflix-Pierra Willix-Entertainment – Metro

Warrior Nun fans have fought back against a decision by Netflix to cancel the series, with a massive fan campaign securing another season.
After first hitting screens back in 2020, the series returned for a second season in November last year but was cancelled a month later.
Based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala, the fantasy drama starred Portuguese actress Alba Baptista as Ava Silva, a quadriplegic orphan who discovers she had supernatural powers which forced her to join an ancient order of warrior nuns.
When news of the show’s cancellation broke, fans were furious, and quickly set about doing what they could to convince Netflix it was worth another run.
Soon after several petitions popped up online, with one picking up more than 123,000 signatures calling for the series to be saved.
Now, after the lengthy fan campaign, their wishes have been answered.

Posting on social media on Wednesday morning, creator Simon Barry shared the news a third season was in the works.
‘Today, I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts – #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine,’ he said.
Unsurprisingly fans have been pretty excited, with his post picking up more than 14,000 likes and 5,000 retweets in just a few hours.
One person detailed the extensive efforts that had been undertaken, posting on Twitter that ‘after six months of fighting to save this show through a worldwide fan campaign that funded 10 billboards, two murals and amassed 15 million+ tweets, we have finally done it’.
‘WE FINALLY SAVED WARRIOR NUN! CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE! YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!,’ they added.
‘Never ever doubt the power of fans. Congratulations to the #WarrioNun fandom, you worked so hard. Thrilled for you and the WN team,’ another person posted on Twitter.
Another added: ‘Mission complete. Can’t wait to see what happens next.’

Late last year the show’s cancellation was confirmed by Barry, who wrote on Twitter: ‘I’ve just found out that @netflix will not be renewing #WarriorNun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this.’
When asked at the time if the show could be saved by another network Barry said the team was ‘looking into it’ and were finding out if there was a ‘path’ to be able to move it to another platform.
