Just before Madonna was admitted to intensive care after falling seriously ill, she shared an eerie message on social media.

The Material Girl icon, 64, was found unresponsive after contracting a ‘serious bacterial infection’ and was admitted into intensive care.

Thankfully, her condition is said to be ‘improving’.

It was an extremely scary moment for her family, who were reportedly ‘prepared for the worst’ as they kept the ordeal a secret since June 24, when she was said to have contracted the infection.

Her daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, was reportedly by her side throughout.

But just one week ago, Madonna took to Instagram with a slightly eerie post, given what is now known.

In it, she posted an array of fabulous (as ever) pictures of herself in full rehearsal swing, and commented: ‘The Calm Before The Storm……….’

The pictures included some of the legend gearing up for her tour, which was due to kick off in Vancouver on July 15 but has now been postponed.

The star was said to have been rehearsing hard before she was struck with the infection.

Her manager confirmed the news in a statement, writing: ‘On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU.

‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.

‘At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.

‘We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.’

The much-anticipated Celebration Tour is due to mark four decades of the Like A Prayer singer’s illustrious career and will include all her greatest hits.

She was then set to play multiple nights in London in October and December, as well as dates across Europe and North America.

This comes just after Madonna released a chart-topping hit – Vulgar – with English singer Sam Smith.

A family friend revealed to Mail Online: ‘For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst.

‘That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation.’

Madonna is also mum to Rocco, 22, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and twins Stella and Estere, 10.
