Real-life Barbie, Margot Robbie, embraced the doll’s origins in a gorgeous black and white striped dress reminiscent of Barbie #1’s iconic swimsuit.

The Aussie star was all smiles as she arrived in at Bondi Beach in a 60s-inspired $1,694 Moschino strawberry-print dress for the latest leg of the press tour.

When she landed in her home country on Wednesday with husband and producer Tom Ackerley, both sported pink outfits to continue the film’s pink-filled promotion.

Ever glamourous, the I, Tonya actress swept up her long blonde hair into a ponytail and accessorised with white round sunglasses and a gold chain white handbag.

Already looking the part, Margot, 32, kicked things up a notch as she swapped her beautiful strawberry look for a striped dress straight out of the doll’s wardrobe.

Margot recreated the 1959 original Barbie outfit, giving a subtle nod to Barbie’s history with the modernised and reimagined version of the iconic swimsuit.

Fans have already caught a glimpse of Margot as the original 1959 Barbie in the 2001: Space Odessey-inspired teaser trailer, which got an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response.

The strawberry dress could also be a loose reference to a 1998 Barbie, which featured a white and red strawberry print dress – we wouldn’t put it past Margot’s team.

Since this teaser dropped, all of the stars have dived headfirst into the Barbiecore aesthetic to promote the highly anticipated movie.

The cast arrived at the Bondi Icebergs on Thursday for a photocall, with the venue transforming into a Barbie dream, full of pink deck chairs and surfboards.

‘Barbie’ was written across everything in the instantly recognisable font – even the pool had the logo emblazoned across the bottom.

Margot waved at fans from the balcony as she was joined by various cast, including director Greta Gerwig and fellow Barbie Issa Rae, who popped in a bright pink suit.

So far on the press tour, we have seen leading lady Margot rocking various pink outfits while her cast members take a more subtle approach to the aesthetic.

However, Issa’s look reminded fans that Margot isn’t the only pink-obsessed doll around – and this Barbie is president.

The film is thought to include multiple actresses as different versions of Barbie, including Issa, Nicola Coughlan, Dua Lipa, and Emma Mackay.

Joining the Barbies are America Ferrera as Gloria and Emerald Fennell as Midge, a controversial pregnant doll released and discontinued by Mattel in the 60s.

There are also plenty of Kens with Ryan Gosling taking the lead and John Cena, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Ncuti Gatwa all credited as Ken.

Will Ferrell is playing a Mattel CEO while Michael Cera joins the cast as Ken’s best friend Allan, another archive character who was quietly discontinued over the years.

The highly anticipated film will hit cinemas on July 21 and follows the world-famous doll as she leaves Barbie Land with Ken and embarks on a life alongside other humans.

Barbie fever has well and truly hit, with endless brand collaborations and Airbnb is even letting people stay at a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse in Malibu.

It’s Barbie’s world, we’re just living in it.
