The Love Island villa inhabitants are being treated to a private performance from the global superstar Ne-Yo in tonight’s episode.

It’s a tradition on the show that a musical guest will arrive to provide the islanders with a party once during the series, which must be extra special as they don’t really get to listen to music while trying to find love.

ITV said: ‘If music be the food of love, please don’t play on until Ne-Yo is free.’

Previous guests have included Joel Corry, Craig David which led to superfan Anton Danyluk shredding some tears, and Tom Zanetti, who actually went on to date a Love Island star – Hayley Hughes (although she wasn’t in the villa when he arrived to spin the decks).

Ne-Yo is single so perhaps he can pull people for chats in between crooning, and see whose doors are open.

The show has come a long way since series one when the celebrity cameo was done by Calum Best, who just took the male islanders out for a night on the town in Magaluf.

We’re not saying Calum isn’t a fantastic reality star, but we are saying he probably can’t belt out Miss Independent like Ne-Yo.

Jess Harding is the one to break the happy news of the special guest to her fellow islanders.

She receives a text from production which she reads aloud: ‘Islanders, it’s time to glam up and get closer because tonight the Villa will host a VIP performance from an International Superstar. #BecauseOfYou #TimeOfMyLife.’

The 22-year-old instantly cracked the code, and screamed ‘Ne-Yo.’

The group then jumped in the pool in celebration of the Grammy Award winner’s impending arrival.

We’re pleased to report that the islanders honour Ne-Yo by enthusiastically singing his songs back at him.

Whitney even tells himLove you,’ to which he promptly responds ‘I love you back.’

Perhaps we’ll see him in Casa Amor. The return of the drama-filled part of the show was teased at the end of last night’s episode.

Elsewhere in the programme, Scott Van Der Sluis confronts the group after he overheard them talking about his relationship with Catherine Agbaje.

‘Everyone, can you all come round the fire pit? Me and Catherine were sat in the den and I can hear everyone saying my name multiple times. If anyone’s got an issue with anything that’s going on, just air it out now in front of everyone,’ Scott begins.

Tyrique is quick to respond, saying: ‘I feel like it’s a feeling within the Villa for myself that people think you are semi-playing a game…you’re definitely over exaggerating your feelings for Catherine.’

The discussion reaches boiling point and later leads to Kady McDermott and Whitney Adebayo also having it out over their shared interest in Zachariah Noble.

Basically, if you’re a fan of R&B music, with a side order of drama then cancel your Friday night plans.

Love Island 2023 continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
