Now that summer’s here, Jonnie Irwin has said he’s keen to jet abroad.

Jonnie, 49, has been making the most of family time following his terminal cancer diagnosis and in a new interview spoke candidly about his limits when travelling.

The former A Place In The Sun presenter has been keeping people in the loop with his personal life over recent months after revealing in November that he was living with terminal cancer.

The Escape to the Country star revealed last year that he didn’t know how long he had left to live after cancer in his lung spread to his brain.

Speaking this week, doting dad Jonnie – who shares three young sons with wife Jess – said if he were to book flights abroad, it would have to be somewhere close to home.

‘I really would like to go on holiday – every week I feel a little bit stronger,’ he explained to the Sun.

‘I don’t think I would be able to go long haul, I wouldn’t feel comfortable but if I could go somewhere in Spain, Portugal or Italy – that would be great,’ the presenter added.

Jonnie and Jess are doting parents to Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Corma.

He also told the outlet: ‘I get more tired, my appetite has been affected but I’m just trying to do as much as possible all the time really.’

Jonnie’s had a lot of ups and downs over recent months, having even had a stint in hospital to monitor a change in his pain management regime.

But that didn’t stop him from enjoying a rip-roaring Father’s Day with his family, telling fans last month that it was his best one yet.

Taking to social media on June 18, the dad-of-three shared a happy post in celebration of the annual celebration, which involved arts and crafts with his kids before some cricket action.

‘Had the best Father’s Day ever’, he wrote on Instagram.

Jonnie added: ‘Breakfast of Chocolate Guinness cake baked expertly my brilliant wife then cards from the boys and visit from my brother in law for a brief pillion ride back in time to enjoy some of the highs and lows of the Ashes ending in more cake with more family washed down by a drop of champers.’
