Mum and I challenged each other to find the best £30 Matalan outfits – I rated her effort 9/10… but I think I did better
A SHOPPER has revealed she did a fun £30 outfit challenge with her mum at Matalan to see if they could make stylish looks on a budget.
Shannon uploaded a video showing the ensembles they picked for each other and was amazed at what they found.

In a YouTube video which has racked up over 5,000 views, Shannon said: “As you can tell from the title it’s another £30 challenge and today’s shop of choice is Matalan.
“Me and mum pick an occasion of theme and with that we see if we can find an outfit, maybe accessories and shoes.
“The theme for today was picking some time of pattern or colour and sticking to it.
“We show each other what we bought and then we try them on and get each other’s opinion.”
Shannon’s mum went first and revealed the look she created for her daughter at Matalan.
She said: “The theme is summery and jazzy – I think you’ll like it.”
The mum said she’d accidentally gone £2 over but was pleased with her haul.
Her outfit included a £20 floral dress and £5 pink flip flops.
For accessories she got a £7 pearl bracelet for her daughter.
Shannon tried on her outfit and said it was a “perfect holiday vibe.”
The YouTuber, who posts under @AllThingsShannonx, added: “Matalan is very underrated for their summer fashion.
“I’d give this a nine.”
Next up, it was Shannon’s outfit that she chose for her mum.
She got some summer sandals that were £9.50 and said: “I’m no good with heels so thought I’d give mum flats.”
For her dress she got a green, floral maxi dress which set her back £20.
Shannon said: “It’s a nice daisy print.”
When her mum tried on the dress it proved to be a big hit, with Shannon saying: “I definitely think I won.
“I’d give that a 10/10.”
Her mum agreed saying: “Yes 10.”
