A first attempt at official Pokémon forums turned into an unmoderated disaster as they became swarmed with inappropriate conversations.

While it’s never been difficult for Pokémon fans to discuss the franchise in online spaces, The Pokémon Company has launched an official forum website that allows fans to get together to exclusively talk about the various video games, the trading card game, and all manner of Pokémon related topics.

No doubt the goal is to curate a safe and welcoming space for all ages, especially younger Pokémon fans, although we get the sense that The Pokémon Company was woefully unprepared for how certain fans would use the forums.

If there was any moderation it wasn’t happening quickly enough, as the forums became inundated with many bizarre and inappropriate topics.

Examples include NSFW discussions about which of the franchise’s many cartoon animals are the most attractive, which one would make for the best emergency toilet, and which female characters you would ‘tickle torment.’

A couple of them aren’t even Pokémon relevant, such as one that talks about how doctors drilled into peoples’ skulls during the black plague.

The whole thing looks to have been a disaster from the get-go, although things appear to have improved. At the time of writing, we tried searching for some of the lewder topics shared on Twitter and none of them turned up.

What’s left are far more normal threads, like general discussions about certain games and people raising awareness of glitches.

That said, there are complaints of users being banned for seemingly no good reason. Some claim to have only posted perfectly appropriate topics or comments so it remains to be seen if this is a bug or if the moderators are being trigger happy with the bans.

If you want to join yourself, you can find the forums at this link. You will need a Pokémon Trainer Club account to post anything, though, and you can register for one here.

idk why they banned me from the pokemon forums when I had two whole discussion posts and one of them was this pic.twitter.com/WkvnMUMmd3

@Pokemon I’m sorry? What did I do? I was banned from the forums!
I started a discussion about prefered indicators for shiny pokemon and gave a like to one of the responses. This morning I come back to this. pic.twitter.com/YHqWIQyH5v
