Taylor Swift has rarely been out of the news of late thanks to the announcement that her Eras tour is coming to the UK in 2024 – but over the years her dating history has kept her in the headlines as much as her chart-topping albums.
As the scramble for tickets continues, recent weeks have seen the 33-year-old’s re-release of 2010’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) which has re-ignited speculation about its track Dear John – and the rumours it was inspired by her ex John Mayer.
Another of the album’s tracks, Back To December, has also come under the spotlight again amid speculation it’s about her brief relationship with Twilight star Taylor Lautner back in 2009.
And she’s also been linked with a string of high-profile names – one of whom infamously broke up with her over the phone.
Just who has she dated, and who took to the phone to tell her they were never ever getting back together?

Here’s some of the biggest names Taylor Swift has dated or been romantically linked to…
Matty Healy
Taylor first sent the rumor mill spinning over her bond with The 1975’s frontman Matty at the beginning of May.
It was claimed that Jack Antonoff reconnected the pair years after they were initially linked, and they were having a ‘good time’ with each other.

Matty was also seen in the crowd at a string of dates on the musician’s Eras tour, and pictured looking cozy with her closest pals during the performances.
However the speculation was over almost soon as it had begun, with a source telling Entertainment Tonight: ‘They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other.
‘Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship.’
Joe Alwyn
Taylor was in a six-year relationship with the Conversations With Friends actor from 2017 until 2023.
The pair were even the subject of engagement rumours earlier this year, but it was revealed in April 2023 they had gone their separate ways.
The split was said to be amicable, with a source saying: ‘It was not dramatic.
‘The relationship had just run its course,’ the insider told ET.

Tom Hiddleston
Prior to her relationship with Alwyn, Taylor dated Tom Hiddleston, and they earned themselves the moniker Hiddleswift.

Hiddleston was also pictured on the beach wearing an ‘I Heart T.S. t-shirt’, but their 2016 romance only lasted two months after this.
Calvin Harris
Between 2015 and 2016, the hottest couple in town was Taylor and Calvin Harris, who were regularly spotted on the red carpet together, and collaborated on a number of songs.
The pair broke up in 2016 with a source telling People: ‘There was no drama. Things just don’t work out sometimes.’

Harry Styles
Taylor and Harry met backstage at the Kids’ Choice Awards in March 2012, and began dating later that year – but had called it quits by the start of 2013.
Rumours they were no longer an item began after they went on a New Year break together to the British Virgin Islands – only for Taylor to then leave the break alone while Harry stayed on, sparking rumours they had split.

John Mayer
Country singer John Mayer – who is 12 years Swift’s senior – dated the singer from December 2009 and February 2010.
The reason for their break-up is unknown, although fans have continued to speculate that other Taylor songs as well as Dear John – including Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, Superman and The Story of Us could be about their relationship.
Taylor Lautner
Taylor and Taylor dated from August-November 2009.
The pair appear to still be on good terms, however, as Lautner appears in her music video for I Can See You – and the actor also made a guest appearance onstage at her show in Kansas, Missouri, where she showered praise on him and his wife Tay Dome.
‘He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video,’ Taylor told the crowd.
‘He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name.’
Who broke up with Taylor Swift over the phone?
The man in question, who famously broke up with Taylor in a quick phone call, was Joe Jonas.
On an appearance on Ellen in 2008, she told the host: ‘When I find that person that is right for me he’ll be wonderful and when I look at that person, I’m not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.’
It was thought at the time that her songs Last Kiss and Forever and Always were about the now-married singer, and Better Than Revenge was about Camilla Belle, who Joe dated after Taylor.
Joe and Taylor dated from July to October 2008, and although it ended with bad blood back then, she apologised to Jonas recently for putting him on blast. Speaking to Ellen this year, she said ‘that was too much’ and said they both laugh at it now.
