A number of your favourite TV shows and films could be thrown into chaos amid the Sag-Aftra strike.
The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists represents 160,000 television and movie actors, with a strike looming as they join screenwriters who have been picketing for over 70 days.
This means production for the likes of The White Lotus, Emily in Paris, House of the Dragon, and even Doctor Who could be halted.
For context, the historic dual strike was recommended after talks between the US actors union and Hollywood’s collective were unsuccessful.
The aim of the discussions was to seek out a fairer split of streaming profits and a guarantee that artificial intelligence (AI) will not be used to replace duties performed by actors.
However, following 12 days of turbulent negotiations, an agreement on a new contract has not been reached, triggering a strike vote by the Sag-Aftra National Board on Thursday morning (July 13).
The union will direct all its members to immediately stop working on all scripted film and TV around the world.
As you can imagine, the entertainment industry is completely up in the air and actors could be prevented from promoting or even starting work on some of 2023 and 2024’s biggest releases.
Here are the TV shows and films likely to be impacted by the strike…
