A man confronts his fiancée after finding evidence that she could be a potential swindler, in chaotic 90 Day Fiancé UK scenes.

The brand new discovery+ series is back with a bang, following seven loved-up Brits and their long-distance partners to put their romance to the ultimate test.

However, it’s a bit of a rollercoaster for one couple, when 37-year-old Michael and his Kenyan wife-to-be Mercy, 28, lock horns as he confronts her over accusations she could be swindling him.

In the tense scenes that follow, Michael and Mercy are at each other’s throats after Michael finds a website with Mercy’s details on it – including a fake name – and calls her out as a potential swindler, throwing the pair’s wedding plans into turmoil.

Essex-based mobile sludge technician Michael has been unlucky in love in the past, as he admits: ‘I was a busy boy in my past – I’ve dated a lot of women in Clacton.

‘If you look at my phone it’s probably like the yellow pages!’

But after failing to look for love locally, he attempts an international dating app, and before long, meets Mercy from Kenya.

18 months later, the pair are engaged and plan on getting married.

‘I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with someone I met online, but I just thought I’d give it a go and see how things went. Mercy’s from Kenya, I love her to bits. She’s beautiful, caring, hardworking,’ Michael gushes.

In the episode, he admits that at first he was sceptical over Mercy’s true identity, and worried that things were too good to be true.

‘When I first started talking to Mercy, I thought she could have been a man,’ he joked.

‘You hear of these scammers that are sitting behind the computer and messaging people, and I think I ended up video calling her to actually see that she was in fact a girl.’

But doubts are forming in Michael’s mind (Picture: Discovery+)

Meanwhile, Mercy reveals she was ‘bored in the house’ when she met Michael online and had no expectations.

‘The only thing I wanted was just someone just to entertain me. So, I called myself Kai,’ she says. ‘I wrote a message, and I used to send it to a million people. Just send it… click and send.’

Now the pair are planning their wedding, which is set to take place in Kenya before Mercy moves in with Michael as they save up to buy a house and start their life together.

But it’s not all smooth sailing, as two of Michael’s best friends are sceptical over the relationship and worried he’s blinded by love, ignoring signs that she could just be in it for the money.

‘It p***** me off when people doubt me and Mercy’s relationship,’ he says. ‘At the end of the day, they don’t know what they’re talking about.’

However, not long later, Michael’s friends bring him evidence that Mercy may not be who she says she is.

Michael is left questioning the future after hearing Mercy could be a ‘Tinder Swindler’ (Picture: Discovery+)

‘I found this on a website,’ his friend says. ‘My friend showed me a post online, and it had pictures of Mercy but with a different name, and it was saying about how she was swindling loads of different men.

‘Quick Google search and it came straight up, yeah Tinder Swindler.’

‘Is she having me on? Is she trying to get money out of me? Is she trying to scam me?’ Michael is left questioning.

Having already paid for the wedding, he decides to confront Mercy and take her to task over the accusations.

‘If this turns out to be true, me and Mercy’s relationship is over!’ he says.

However, when he confronts her, their chat quickly becomes heated.

Answering Michael’s call, Mercy immediately suspects something is up. ‘Why you so serious?’ she says.

‘Because you’ve got some explaining to do,’ Michael responds, taking a deep breath.

‘Check what I’ve sent you,’ he says, sending her the post.

‘What?! This is crazy!’” she’ a dumbfounded Mercy gasps.

‘What the f*** is going on?’ Michael asks.

‘Maybe someone is using my picture, my name is not Mercy Kameta,” Mercy says, denying the accusations, but she refuses to show her passport as proof.

As things become even more heated, Mercy hits out: ‘Don’t you trust me? What the f***!’

‘I’m not gonna prove s***! If you don’t trust me, f*** off!’

As Michael explains, he’s torn between believing Mercy, or believing his friends.

‘I don’t know what to believe,’ he says. ‘Because I’m seeing one thing, and she’s obviously saying another thing. Can I trust her?’

Will Michael continue with his plans to marry Mercy in Kenya, or is this the end of the road?

The brand-new series of 90 Day Fiancé UK is available to stream exclusively on discovery+ from Sunday, July 16.
